Our Philosophy
The BoCoCa Co-op incorporates principles of Mindfulness, Brain Gym, Positive Guidance, and the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education. One of our main strategies in teaching is “scaffolding play.” When the children express interest we are ready with stories, games, art projects, experiments and songs that open their minds to the grand wholes that surround them. In the stage at which we welcome them to our classroom, children are emerging from the home environment to begin the development of self as positive, cooperative and critically thinking young people. It is our intention to allow them to realize the responsibility and power they have to change themselves and the world.
Program Details
The program meets Monday-Thursday from 9-12pm at a wellness space on Atlantic between Smith & Hoyt. We try and go outside rain or shine, so it is very important that all our kiddos are dressed in weather-appropriate attire. Waterproof jackets, gloves, and footwear are essential for all students. We use our walking rope and will visit the Community Garden on the corner of Hoyt & Atlantic, go for walks around the neighborhood, and also visit playgrounds such as the “Dolphin Playground” and PS 261.
