Lead Teacher

This fall will mark my 10th year in a cooperative playgroup; first as a parent administrator, then as an educator.

My experience began as a parent searching for a small, community-minded, play-based preschool alternative for my daughter. Alongside seven other parents, we built Columbia Cooperative Playgroup. I then founded Little Bears Playgroup to continue the important work I began at Columbia Cooperative and now it has evolved again into the BoCoCa Co-op!

I am passionate about child-led play, creative expression, and community building in our classroom. We are committed to the development of kind, confident, curious children. I look forward to meeting, and welcoming you into the Little Bears family.

My name Is Diana Vaquero and I am Brooklyn-born and raised in Mexico. I have two beautiful children ages 9 and 15, and before becoming a teacher, I was a medical assistant at NYU. When I decided I wanted to move into early childhood education I worked as a nanny while studying to be a teacher’s assistant, which I completed in 2022.

I love working with children and consider myself a funny person who is full of jokes! I can’t wait to meet you and your family!
